Users will now be forced to upgrade to slower versions of Windows, where they will be less productive. Windows 7 and 8 require copious amounts of resources for no logical conceivable reason. It's all well and good telling people to "simply buy a new PC", but not everyone has that much money lying around for a computer good enough to display coloured squares at 60 frames per second. You're going to upset a lot of people who enjoyed snappy performance.
